Helping People, Not Just Writing Protocols
Why choose Broad Street for IPC consulting?
Broad Street Prevention was founded with a single mission: to protect people by making infection prevention practical, empowering, and accessible. Inspired by one of the most important stories in epidemiology, Broad Street Prevention bridges the science of infectious disease control with the art of implementation, helping healthcare facilities, public health programs, and global initiatives turn prevention ideals into actionable, sustainable outcomes.
At Broad Street Prevention, we believe infection prevention isn’t just about protocols—it’s about people. It’s about behavior, culture, communication, and compassion. Our work is rooted in both evidence and empathy, helping teams understand not just what to do, but how to do it well. Through consulting, education, policy development, and outbreak response, we equip healthcare leaders and frontline workers alike with the tools they need to prevent harm and foster safety.
Our team works across the continuum of care—from long-term care facilities and hospitals to national and international public health efforts—providing expert guidance tailored to each setting’s unique risks, resources, and regulatory requirements. We specialize in helping teams navigate complex challenges, improve compliance, strengthen leadership, and build resilient systems that work in the real world.

The Story Behind the Name
In 1854, a deadly cholera outbreak swept through the Soho district of London. At the time, most believed the disease was spread through “bad air”—a theory known as miasma. But one physician, Dr. John Snow, had a different idea.
Through meticulous investigation, Dr. Snow mapped the outbreak and interviewed residents, eventually tracing the source to a single contaminated water pump on Broad Street. Despite resistance from authorities and peers, he convinced officials to remove the pump handle—an act that marked a turning point in the outbreak and in the field of epidemiology.
At Broad Street Prevention, we honor that legacy. Like Dr. Snow, we believe in asking better questions, challenging assumptions, and using evidence to protect lives. His story reminds us that sometimes the smallest actions—like removing a pump handle—can have the greatest impact.
That’s why we do what we do. Whether it’s a healthcare facility battling an outbreak, a team navigating complex regulations, a lawsuit requiring infection prevention expertise, or a system trying to rebuild trust, Broad Street Prevention is committed to helping you find—and remove—the pump handle.

“You and I may not live to see the day, and my name may be forgotten when it comes, but the time will arrive when great outbreaks of cholera will be things of the past; and it is the knowledge of the way in which the disease is propagated which will cause them to disappear.”
